But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in and confidently rely on the loving-kindness and the mercy of God forever and ever. Psalm 52:8 (Amp version)
Isn’t that an awesome verse!!! Well when the Lord gave this verse to me a week ago, it opened up a great revelation to me! If you have a plant or pet that you take care of; do you ever stop to wonder the trust that they or it have in you? I mean think about it, it’s alive because you are keeping it alive.
My cat Abraham comes to me for petting and cuddles and just flops over near me without even a second thought about if I would harm him in anyway. Now I do have moments where I have to speak loudly and put more authority in my voice or if I loose my cool and yell He may slink and hide. But he knows that I am his keeper and I am his source of what He needs to live. He comes to me very persistently sometimes, (He can be very annoying!!!) to receive what He wants or needs. My plants too; if I forget to water them they pay the penalty, because I am keeper over them and I am responsible for them.
We can approach our Father like that too. He is our keeper and He has all that we need to live and have a life that is abundant in His goodness. He wants us to have His goodness too because He is keeping us! When I looked up the definition of keep, Wow! Here is a couple of them. One is to have or retain possession of. That sounds like Our God. He keeps us and we keep him. As the song, Oceans (Where feet may fail) by Hillsong goes, ‘I am yours and you are mine.’ Another definition is, cause to continue in a specific condition, position or course. We are children of God and covered by grace, He has a purposed life for each of us to live out for Him here on earth. The word keep is so awesome!!! OK that is your vocabulary lesson of the day! 🙂
Let’s remember that even though He has good things for us, we need to be open to Him to receive it. Just like a plant, it’s roots and leaves have little openings to take in nutrients and water. Also at the right time and season plants have the ability to attract bees and other insects to it to and they carry away seeds and pollen to other plants and new ground to produce more plants! I’m I making any sense??!! Ha!
We like the plants need to be in God’s word to know what good things are available to us and then we need to receive them. We claim the good things from God by speaking them over our lives. After we feed on and fill ourselves with those good things that God has promised us, we at the right time release our faith into areas of our lives. We attract others to us and then we give them the truth of the Word and with the seeds of truth planted in their hearts they go out and spread the good news to others!
Im going to finish with this little poem He put in my heart. I’m sure and open to keep being kept by my Father, my keeper. He keeps me. He’s keeping me and I am keep Him. I keep myself being kept in His keeping.
God Bless you all!
